RADM
David P. Sargent, Jr. US Navy (Ret), Consultant, Navatek,
Ltd., is President of Sargent Enterprises, Inc.. Sargent completed
a 32-year career with the US Navy, with his last assignment a CEO
level position as Program Executive Officer, Expeditionary Warfare
(PEO EXW) responsible for 12 major program offices developing and
procuring Navy ships and weapons system. Prior to that he held another
CEO level position as Program Executive Officer for Carriers, Littoral
Warfare, and Auxiliary Ships (PEO CLA) with the combined responsibility
for all U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier, Amphibious and Auxiliary Ship
procurement and support programs. He directed the merger of twelve
separate management organizations into a single business structure,
and directed the establishment of innovative research, development,
and acquisition programs for the next generation of US Navy Aircraft
Carriers and Amphibious ships. From 1994-1996, RADM Sargent directed
major organizational restructuring and transformation by leading
the merger of sixteen separate R&D laboratories and engineering
facilities with a total workforce of 23,000 personnel into a single
business unit. His earlier naval career included numerous operational
billets at sea including command of two ships. These and other sea
duty billets included extensive international interface. Also during
his naval career, RADM Sargent held several prominent program management
positions including Director of Advanced Combat Systems for the
AEGIS Shipbuilding Program, Director of AEGIS Shipbuilding Program
Foreign Military Sales, Director, AEGIS Fleet Introduction and Lifetime
support. RADM Sargent earned his BS (ME) from Cornell University
and his MSME from the Naval Postgraduate School. He is a graduate
of the Naval War College and the Program for Executives at Carnegie-Mellon
University. RADM Sargent has been a licensed Professional Engineer
in California since 1974, and served two consecutive two year terms
as President, American Society of Naval Engineers.

Terry
Schmidt, Technical Consultant, Navatek Ltd., earned
his B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering at California State Polytechnic
University and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at San Jose State
University, subsequently conducting wind tunnel testing for six
years for NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. During
his 31 years in advanced ship design at Lockheed Martin, he received
9 U.S. patents and was awarded the Robert E. Gross award, Lockheed
Martin’s highest technical honor following his work on the
Navy stealth ship Sea Shadow. He has collaborated with Navatek since
1989 on research projects and advanced ship designs including Navatek
II, SLICE, Midfoil, lifting bodies, large ocean platforms, and advanced
propulsion systems.

Lorne
Campbell,
Consultant, Navatek Ltd., is an independent Naval Architect,
Designer and Consultant specializing in the field of high speed
power craft for all fields of operation. Apprenticed to Vosper Ltd
(1965 - 1970) he attended Newcastle University and Portsmouth Polytechnic.
He moved to Fairey Marine and then Rotork Marine before helping
to set up Capoco Design Ltd, contract designers for the marine and
automotive industries, in 1977. Leaving Capoco in 1981 he has operated,
since, as Lorne Campbell Design in the design and consultancy of
a wide variety of fast leisure, commercial, military and racing
power craft. Offshore racing and power craft he designed have gained
11 world championships, 18 national championships and 7 world speed
records as well as numerous individual wins. In 2005, his 51 foot
Bladerunner design gained the Round Britain speed record with a
time of 27 hours and 10 min – 3.5 hours less than the previous
record – while achieving an average speed of 53.4 knots (61.5
mph). He is an Associate Member of The Royal Institution of Naval
Architects, a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine
Engineers and serves on the RINA Small Craft Committee

Clas
Norrstrand, Consultant, Navatek Ltd., is Managing
Director and Founder of Light Craft Design Group, Sweden which provides
design and engineering services for the maritime industry in the
area of high-performance vessels, including stability analysis,
general arrangements, hull modifications and hydrofoil design. A
mechanical engineer with 37 years experience in the field, Norrstrand
formerly served as director for R&D at Marinteknik Shipbuilders
(S) Pte. Ltd., Singapore and director of Marinteknik Design (E)
AB, Sweden with responsibility for the development of Marinteknik’s
new generation of highly efficient passenger ferries.

Robert Knapp, Senior Software Engineer, Navatek, Ltd., worked with Navatek as a consultant from 1997-2004 before joining the company full time. His work has focused on the development of low- and high-level, real-time control, recording, and display software for Navatek’s advanced hull-form ships. Mr. Knapp developed the Sea Flyer’s 29-processor Advanced Ride Control System, and assists in the development of Navatek-proprietary processing boards. Prior to joining Navatek, Knapp worked as a real-time software engineer on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands; in various French-speaking African countries as a wire line engineer for Schlumberger Ltd.; for Integrated Systems Inc.’s Advanced Systems Division; and for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, CA. He received his M.S.M.E. from Stanford University.
